- Hair extension transformation angel
Why Choose Hair Extensions? People get Hair extensions for various reasons, usually for a confidence boost or hair that won’t retain length and volume, but what they don’t realize is how important it is for their hairdresser to look after their hair and scalp as much as they do. It’s a joint agreement, and I have heard a horror story I cannot even believe when I’m hearing it. When we first spoke and I did the scalp analysis, I mentioned how I wasn’t going to put the weave too high up, as with the last one she had, they did the foundation row too close to the scalp and didn’t account for her hair strength, which didn’t help. We spoke about this during her install, and she was happy to give the sides a little break because I told her to trust me and go with the process and let her sides breathe. ❤️ The hair has to be of good quality. She brought me her hair that they put in, and it felt synthetic. It couldn’t curl or be styled, which is just awful. It stayed straight the whole time. This lovely guest never even had her scalp cleansed and exfoliated before having the fitting, which is just awful 😞. That’s the first thing you should have done before your application, not only to cleanse the scalp of oil residue or product buildup, but you need to cleanse the dead skin off the scalp also so that for the next few weeks in those areas, they don’t get itchy and dry. It also helps smooth the cuticles of the hair post-conditioner (on very ends only) and a tepid rinse. You would proceed to blow-dry the hair flat, and this helps prevent tangles and knots when installing your foundation base for the weave to lay on. I like to clip the loose weave to the head securely, being careful of the bonds underneath not to put too much pressure on them. Hence why you see a lot of clips. This also controls baby hairs from being caught up during the beading and sewing process. Tips for Washing Your Weave Extensions 1. Gather Your Supplies Shampoo (preferably sulfate-free) Conditioner Wide-tooth comb Extension brush Towel Water 2. Prepare the Weave Gently detangle the weave using a wide-tooth comb on ends only and an extension brush on roots to ends after ends have been brushed. 3. Rinse Thoroughly Use lukewarm water to rinse the extensions. Avoid hot water as it can damage the hair. Make sure to rinse from top to bottom to help remove any product buildup. 4. Apply Shampoo Apply a small amount of shampoo to your hands and gently work it into the scalp and inbetween where the tracks are sewn in. Focus on the roots and avoid rubbing the hair too harshly. 5. Rinse Again Thoroughly rinse out the shampoo with lukewarm water, ensuring no residue is left. 6. Condition the Weave Apply a generous amount of conditioner, focusing on the ends of the extensions . Do not put on the root or bonded areas. Leave the conditioner in for a few minutes for deep conditioning. 7. Final Rinse Rinse the conditioner out with cool water to help seal the cuticles. 8. Drying the Weave Gently squeeze out excess water without twisting or wringing the hair. fully dry bonded areas if leaving ends damp but its not reccomended to air dry weave its best to rough dry to pretty much dry as long as the roots are 100% dry thats important to prevent matting and slippage of bonds. 9. Avoid Heat Limit the use of heat styling tools until the weave is completely dry. Always use a heat protectant when styling. 10. Regular Maintenance Wash your weave every Week to keep it clean and healthy. Use leave-in conditioner or hair oil to keep the extensions moisturized. By following these tips, you can maintain the quality and longevity of your weave extensions. The purchased hair will last up to a year depending on home aftercare. A complete refit is needed every 3 months, with a 6-8 week move up. But this volume speaks for itself. Why choose the LA Weave Microring Method? The reason for this is that it gives the most dramatic change to your look. You get maximum length and volume with the least amount of damage, as there is no glue. The microring used has a protective silicone lining that, once closed, cushions around the hair. The sections taken are large enough to secure it in a healthy way and are placed in a row so the weight is distributed evenly when sewn into the base bond. The ring is then secured slightly off the scalp and pulled down so it's encouraged to grow in its natural form. To remove, the ring is gently opened and released from the base, with just normal hair shedding coming out.
- Navigating Hairdressing Industry Challenges: My Journey to Renting a Space and Breaking Through
Introduction Introduction and Background in Hairdressing I'm Don, a hairstylist and makeup artist deeply passionate about the Hair & Beauty industry. With more than 12 years of expertise in hairdressing, I've built a solid foundation in diverse hair techniques and styles. Over the course of my career, I've completed several short courses in makeup, which have helped me refine my skills and keep abreast of the latest trends and techniques. I have had the opportunity to train with some outstanding makeup artists, which has deepened my passion for expanding my skills in makeup artistry. My career has also led me to participate in exciting projects, including a role with Netflix in Ireland, where I worked on the background hair for the series "Nightflyers." In 2017, I secured 3rd place in the Ireland final of TrendVision with Wella Professionals. Having spent over 8 years working in various London salons, I have observed the challenges and toxic environments that can occur in the beauty industry. Despite existing regulations and guidelines, the atmosphere can sometimes be less than ideal. Nevertheless, I remain dedicated to my craft and eager to gain new experiences in makeup artistry, aiming to foster a positive and collaborative environment in my work. I've come to realize that this energy really manifests, and you all can feel it. Many of my clients have chosen to stop coming to the salon or have requested private appointments at home because they weren't comfortable with the atmosphere there. My aim is to craft a space that radiates happiness, warmth, and a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're in the mood for a lively chat or simply wish to enjoy some soothing background music in peaceful silence, you're in the right place. Bring your unique vibe, and I'll take care of the rest! Understanding the Challenges in the Industry Keeping pace with the constantly evolving social media trends can feel daunting, as it involves staying informed about all the new terminology, continuously adapting, and learning. However, selecting the right inspirational image can effectively communicate your objectives. By analyzing its flow, you can grasp the layer you intend to create, helping you adjust and refine your strategy. The same applies to color, but choosing the right shades is crucial. I'm already experiencing the challenges of freelancing, and the expenses are piling up! The fear of starting on your own is daunting. However, this industry is challenging, and dealing with toxic environments is tough. Despite everything, I'm determined not to give up. There are thousands of people like me out there who are doing very well. It appears that business owners with employees in this industry often spread rumors about those who rent a chair for themselves. Yes, it's difficult, but not impossible, and people do pay their dues to HMRC and register what they need to. Hairdressers are incredibly common in this town, with the market being oversaturated. Despite this, both clients and staff are generally dissatisfied. I believe this is revolutionary because it allows you to set your own hours and find a space where you and your clients feel safe, allowing you to be your true self. In a world filled with pretense, people appreciate authenticity. Employers often suppress this, but if you maintain cleanliness, follow hygiene protocols, and perform your job well, why shouldn't you enjoy your work and be genuine? Selecting the appropriate location is essential; although it's thrilling, you must make sure both the agreement and the space meet your needs. Don't hurry and take your time. I almost committed to another place before finding the gem I now call home. In hindsight, I'm relieved I didn't, as that space would have been inappropriate. The industry can be discouraging, and I lost so much confidence that I left. However, one evening over a glass of wine, my cousin reminded me, "Don't let her take your career from you," referring to a former boss. That resonated with me. I realized I love what I do. While I'm not perfect, I'm a good person, and I always strive to achieve the best results with the utmost care for the client in mind. So, I've decided to use that motivation to continue educating myself, growing, and learning. Why I Decided to Rent My Own Space I'm looking for a place where I can educate myself to offer the services I desire, rather than relying on an employer to send me, only to wait over a year and still not be sent. I'm beginning from scratch, with no investors, just my heart and soul. I'm creating a brand, a collective, with many plans in mind, but I'm taking it one step at a time. I aim to provide a private experience for my clients where they feel at ease with me, fostering a mutual relationship. My appointments are much more than just haircuts or casual conversations about family and holidays (which I do enjoy). I want to engage in meaningful exchanges, learning from one another and inspiring each other to explore new directions that might initially seem daunting. This helps our personalities to thrive, allowing us to simply enjoy being ourselves, all while you receive your haircut or color treatment. Welcome To Kurland Kollective. I Cant Wait To Have You In My Chair.

- Protecting Your Hair from City Pollution: Essential Tips for Londoners
Understanding the Impact of Pollution on Your Hair Pollution in cities includes tiny particles from vehicle exhaust, industrial emissions, dust, and smoke. These particles settle on your hair and scalp, causing several problems: Clogged hair follicles : Pollution particles block follicles, which can slow hair growth and cause scalp irritation. Oxidative stress : Pollutants generate free radicals that damage hair proteins and weaken hair structure. Loss of moisture : Pollution strips natural oils from your hair, leaving it dry and prone to breakage. Color fading : If you colour your hair, pollution can cause the colour to fade faster by breaking down pigments. Dull appearance : Dust and grime coat your hair, making it look lifeless and dirty even after washing. If you cycle or walk through the city daily, your hair pollution exposure is even higher. This constant contact with pollutants means you need to take extra care. Steps to Protect Your Hair from Pollution You can reduce the damage pollution causes by adopting an antipollution hair care routine. Here are some effective ways to help your hair stay healthy despite city pollution: 1. Cleanse Your Hair Thoroughly Pollution particles stick to your hair and scalp, so washing your hair regularly is essential. Use a gentle shampoo designed to remove impurities without stripping natural oils. Look for shampoos labelled antipollution or those containing ingredients like activated charcoal or clay, which help absorb dirt and toxins. Avoid washing your hair with very hot water, as it can dry out your scalp and hair further. 2. Use a Pollution-Blocking Leave-In Treatment After washing, apply a leave-in conditioner or serum that forms a protective barrier on your hair. These products help repel dust and pollutants, reducing hair pollution buildup throughout the day. Ingredients like antioxidants, vitamins C and E, and natural oils (argan, jojoba) can strengthen hair and fight oxidative damage. 3. Cover Your Hair When Outside If you cycle or spend a lot of time outdoors in the city, consider covering your hair with a scarf, hat, or helmet liner. This physical barrier reduces direct contact with airborne pollutants. Choose breathable fabrics to avoid trapping sweat and dirt close to your scalp. 4. Deep Condition Weekly Pollution dries out your hair, so deep conditioning once a week helps restore moisture and repair damage. Use a rich hair mask or oil treatment to nourish your strands and improve elasticity. Look for products with hydrating ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, or aloe vera. 5. Maintain a Healthy Scalp A healthy scalp supports strong hair growth and resists irritation from pollution. Use gentle exfoliating scalp treatments to remove buildup and improve circulation. Massaging your scalp with oils like tea tree or peppermint can soothe inflammation and keep your scalp balanced. 6. Avoid Excess Heat Styling Heat styling tools like straighteners and curling irons can worsen pollution damage by drying out hair and making it brittle. Limit heat use and always apply a heat protectant spray before styling. What to Look for in Hair Products for Pollution Help When choosing hair care products, check labels for ingredients that specifically target pollution effects: Antioxidants : Neutralise free radicals caused by pollution. Chelating agents : Remove mineral buildup from hard water and pollution. Moisturisers : Prevent dryness and breakage. UV filters : Protect hair from sun damage, which worsens pollution effects. Avoid products with harsh sulfates or alcohols that can strip natural oils and increase hair pollution damage. Small Habits That Make a Big Difference Rinse your hair with clean water after outdoor activities to wash away pollutants. Avoid touching your hair with dirty hands to reduce transferring grime. Change pillowcases frequently to prevent pollution particles from settling on your hair overnight. Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction and hair breakage. By incorporating these habits, you can reduce the impact of pollution on your hair over time. The Importance of Regular Hair Appointments Regular hair appointments are crucial for maintaining the health of your hair. Visiting a professional can help you address any specific concerns related to pollution damage. A skilled stylist can recommend tailored treatments and products that suit your hair type and lifestyle. If you’re in London and your hair’s feeling dull, book an appointment at Kurland Kollective Here. By taking these steps, you can enjoy vibrant, healthy hair even in the bustling city. Remember, your hair deserves the best care, and with a little effort, you can protect it from the effects of pollution.
- Find Your Perfect Cut: Fun Guide to Haircuts for Every Face Shape
Choosing a haircut can feel like a puzzle. You want something that makes you look gorgey but also fits your lifestyle and personality. The trick is knowing your face shape and how different haircuts can highlight your best features. This guide is here to make that process fun and simple. Remember, this isn’t a strict rulebook. You can rock any haircut you want, sometimes it just takes a few tweaks to make it work perfectly for you. Let’s dive into the world of face shapes and find the haircut that feels like it was made just for you. Understanding Your Face Shape with a perfect cut. Before picking a haircut, you need to know your face shape. It’s easier than you think. Stand in front of a mirror with your hair pulled back and look at the outline of your face. You can also trace it with a washable marker or take a selfie and draw on it. Here are the most common face shapes: Oval : Balanced proportions, slightly narrower at the jaw than the temples, and a gently rounded hairline. Round : Full cheeks, rounded jawline, and the width and length are almost equal. Square : Strong jawline, broad forehead, and the width of the forehead, cheeks, and jaw are similar. Heart : Wider forehead and cheekbones with a narrow, pointed chin. Diamond : Narrow forehead and jawline with wide cheekbones. Long (Rectangular) : Face is longer than it is wide, with a long straight cheek line. Knowing your face shape helps you choose a haircut that balances your features and highlights your best angles. Haircuts That Work for Oval Faces If you have an oval face, you’re lucky. Most haircuts suit you because your face is well balanced. You can experiment with length and layers without worrying too much. Try a blunt bob for a chic, modern look. Soft waves add volume and movement. Long layers frame your face beautifully. Pixie cuts work well to show off your bone structure. Since your face is versatile, focus on what makes you feel confident and fits your lifestyle. Haircuts for Round Faces Round faces look youthful and soft, but you might want to add some angles to create the illusion of length. Long layers that start below the chin help elongate your face. Side-swept bangs break up the roundness. Avoid blunt cuts that end at the chin; they can make your face look wider. A layered lob (long bob) with volume on top adds height. The goal is to create balance by adding length and angles. Haircuts for Square Faces Square faces have strong, defined jawlines. The best haircuts soften those angles and add curves. Soft, layered cuts that fall below the jawline work well. Side parts and waves add softness. Avoid blunt bangs or cuts that emphasize the jaw. Long, wispy layers create a feminine touch. Think about styles that add movement and avoid anything too harsh. Haircuts for Heart-Shaped Faces Heart-shaped faces have a wider forehead and a narrow chin. The idea is to balance the forehead and add width around the jaw. Chin-length bobs or curls add volume near the jaw. Side-swept bangs reduce the width of the forehead. Long layers that start below the chin work well. Avoid too much volume on top, which can make the forehead look wider. This shape is great for playful, romantic styles. Haircuts for Diamond Faces Diamond faces are all about those striking cheekbones. The goal is to soften the angles and highlight the cheekbones. Chin-length bobs with layers soften the jawline. Side-swept bangs or fringe work well. Avoid styles that add width at the cheekbones. Long, layered cuts that tuck behind the ears highlight your features. This face shape looks stunning with edgy or classic cuts. Haircuts for Long Faces Long faces benefit from haircuts that add width and volume to balance the length. Bangs are your best friend, blunt or side-swept. Curls and waves add fullness on the sides. Avoid very long, straight cuts without layers; they can make your face look longer. Shoulder-length cuts with layers create the illusion of width. Adding volume around the cheeks is key. Final Thoughts on Choosing Your Haircut Choosing a haircut based on your face shape is a helpful starting point, but it’s not a strict rule. Your hair texture, lifestyle, and personal style matter just as much. A great stylist will adjust any cut to suit you perfectly. If you love a haircut that’s not “recommended” for your face shape, go for it. Small tweaks like changing the part, adding layers, or adjusting the length can make all the difference. The most important thing is to feel confident and have fun with your hair. After all, your haircut is a way to express who you are.
- How to Keep Hair Colour Fresh Between Appointments
Maintaining vibrant hair color between salon visits is key for anyone who invests in professional coloring. Here are simple techniques to make your color last longer. Why Color Fades Fast Keeping your Hair Colour Fresh is hard so here are some top tips. Hair color fades from washing, heat, sun, and products that strip it. Professional salon color needs care at home to stay bright for Wash Less Often Only wash your hair once per week. This cuts down on water and product stripping your color. Use warm water, not hot, to avoid opening the hair cuticle. Pick the Right Shampoo Switch to sulphate-free shampoo or a color-saving one with sulphates. These are gentle and keep color locked in. Use a small amount and rinse well. Add a Weekly Mask Apply a good color-protecting mask once per week. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes after shampooing. It seals the color and adds shine. Refresh at 8 Weeks Around 8 weeks later, book a gloss or toner with a haircut. This refreshes the color and shape, giving you another 6 weeks of vibrant look. Ready to refresh your color? - The Essential Guide to Hair Health Aftercare: Beyond Colour Choices and Product Solutions
Introduction I've been getting a lot of questions from clients and friends about hair health: how can I repair my hair? My hair is so tangled and dry, what can I do? The first thing I always start with is the product use; I don't immediately say, "Okay, you need this and that." I wait and ask about lifestyle: are you in the gym, outside, office work, air conditioning, climate if not living in the same region or country, how you physically touch, wash, manage, and dry your hair. I ask about stress and health not because I am nosy, but because all these things can correlate and/or have an effect on the other. I'm going to break it down below. Bear WITH ME. Understanding Hair Structure: Alpha and Beta Keratin Hair is made mostly of keratin , and when it’s wet it swells and becomes more elastic—meaning it can stretch further and snap more easily if you’re rough with it. That “wet stage” is when you want to be the most gentle. When you shampoo, you’re not trying to scrub your hair lengths—you’re cleansing your scalp . Use the pads of your fingertips (not nails) with light-to-medium pressure, and take your time. Any pattern is fine (small circles, back-and-forth, sections)—what matters is that you cleanse evenly and rinse really well . Your hairdresser probably isn’t shampooing “wrong”… but a lot of people at home rush it or get too aggressive. Also: shedding is normal. Most people lose around 50–100 hairs a day (sometimes more on wash days). Conditioner time: apply it through the mid-lengths and ends , then detangle gently with a wide-tooth comb or a wet brush— start at the ends and work up . And please: do not yank . If it’s stuck, add more water/conditioner and ease it apart. After rinsing, squeeze (don’t wring) the water out. Use a soft microfiber towel or a cotton T‑shirt and blot—no aggressive rubbing. Give it a few minutes, then go in with your leave-in (spray/cream depending on your hair type) and detangle again gently. If you’re blow-drying, finish with heat protectant . If not, leave it to air-dry with as little disturbance as possible. That’s the safest way to handle hair in its most delicate state. How to Choose Products for Wet Hair Detangling Hair aftercare can get complicated. In general, it depends on your hair type, porosity, and lifestyle and if you’re unsure, ask your hairdresser (lucky for you, I am one). For straight to wavy hair (and looser curls) with average density and occasional tangles: a good rinse-out conditioner may be enough, especially on untreated hair. If your hair is coloured/lightened, heat-styled, or tends to feel dry, a lightweight leave-in spray can make detangling easier and help reduce friction. For curlier/coilier textures, the curl-type chart (1–4) can be a useful guide, but it’s not a strict rule. Many 1c–3b curls do well with a leave-in spray, and some 3b–4a hair benefits from adding a light cream for extra slip and definition. For 2c–4c hair, a spray + cream combo often works well, adjusting the amount based on density and how dry the hair feels. If your scalp tolerates it, a lightweight scalp oil/serum can help with comfort and reduce dryness, but it’s optional (and it’s best to patch-test and avoid heavy buildup). This is general guidance. I’d always tailor it after seeing your hair in person. Long-Term Strategies to Reduce Tangling Permanently It might sound odd, but very dry indoor air from heating or air conditioning can leave hair feeling drier and more prone to static and tangling, so it helps to keep up with hydration (a good conditioner and a light leave-in on the mid-lengths/ends). If you’re in a big city like London, you can also try an “anti‑pollution” leave-in occasionally; some formulas use film-formers and antioxidants that may help reduce dullness and dryness from environmental exposure. Sleeping on a silk/satin pillowcase or wearing a bonnet can reduce friction overnight. In winter, high-collar coats and scarves can tangle hair at the nape, so a smoother lining (or tucking hair into a silk/satin scarf) can help. Keep a small detangling brush for touch-ups, but detangle gently (ends first) and avoid over-brushing or yanking at knots, paired with a solid wash-day routine, it all adds up. The Impact of Towels and Pillowcases on Hair Health I mention towels and pillowcases because some fabrics create a lot of friction. That friction can roughen or lift the hair cuticle, making strands catch on each other more easily, leading to tangles, frizz, and breakage. Being gentle (blotting or squeezing rather than vigorous rubbing) helps, and lower-friction options like microfiber towels or satin/silk pillowcases can be especially helpful for curlier, drier, or more damaged hair. - 2026 Hair Trends: Cuts & Colours Everyone Is Googling
2026 is shaping up to be a year where polished, healthy hair meets playful, expressive makeup. Think glossy lengths, side fringes, bold eyes, and blurred lips. These styles are not just runway fantasies they are the exact trends people search for before booking their next appointment. Whether you’re typing “haircut trends 2026,” “copper hair,” or “2026 makeup trends” into your phone, you’re tapping into what’s truly hot this year. Ready to refresh your look? Let’s dive into the haircut and colour trends you’ll want to know about, plus makeup ideas that perfectly complement your style. Haircut Trends 2026 – The Styles Everyone’s Saving The Supermodel Midi Cut (The Effortless One) This cut grazes the shoulders with soft, flowing layers that look expensive but are surprisingly easy to style. It’s perfect if you have medium hair and want a look that feels chic without demanding too much time. The supermodel midi cut is ideal for those who prefer low-maintenance styles but still want to turn heads. You can wear it sleek and glossy or tousled for a more relaxed vibe. Lived-In Shag & Modern Layers (Texture Lovers) If you love texture and movement, the lived-in shag haircut 2026 is your go-to. This style features airy layers that work beautifully with waves and curls. Instead of fighting your natural texture, it enhances it, giving your hair a fresh, effortless bounce. This cut is especially popular among those who want a style that feels natural and dynamic without heavy styling. Bobs Are Back (Blunt, French & Boxy) Bobs are making a strong comeback in 2026, with three main styles trending: the French bob, blunt bob, and box bob. Each has its own personality: French bob suits oval and heart-shaped faces, offering a soft, elegant frame. Blunt bob works well for square faces, giving a sharp, polished edge. Box bob is great for round faces, adding structure and definition. Maintenance varies: the blunt bob requires regular trims to keep its sharp lines, while the French and box bobs can grow out a bit more naturally. If you’re searching for “best hair stylist near me” or “hairdresser London,” these cuts are definitely worth discussing. Side Fringe & French Fringe (Tiny Change, Big Vibe) Side fringes are a huge 2026 prediction, inspired by 90s Gucci and modern icons like Bella Hadid. This subtle change can transform your look without a full haircut. The side fringe 2026 and French fringe 2026 trends add a fresh, youthful vibe and work well with most hair lengths. They’re perfect if you want to experiment with your style but keep things manageable. 2026 Hair Colour Trends – From Copper Crush to Halo Blondes Copper & Warm Bronde (The Main Character Shades) Copper, cinnamon, and “milk tea bronde” are dominating the 2026 hair colour trends. These warm shades suit a variety of skin tones, especially those with warm or neutral undertones. They add richness and depth to your hair, making it look vibrant and healthy. Keep in mind that these colours often need a gloss top-up every 6-8 weeks to maintain their shine and warmth. If you’re searching for a “hair colourist London” or “hair salon near me,” these shades are a great conversation starter. Expensive Blonde & “Hamptons” Blonde Forget stripy, harsh highlights. The expensive blonde 2026 is all about soft, glossy blondes with natural dimension. The “Hamptons” blonde look is low-maintenance and luxurious, perfect if you want blonde without the constant upkeep. These blondes suit cooler skin tones and add a sun-kissed glow that feels fresh year-round. Searching for “low-maintenance blonde highlights” will lead you to salons that specialize in this look. Halo Colour & Face-Framing Money Pieces Halo colour and face-framing money pieces are subtle ways to brighten your hair without full-head foils. These techniques place lighter strands around the crown or face, creating a natural glow and dimension. Hairline highlights and money piece 2026 are keywords you’ll find when looking for this trend. It’s a smart choice if you want to refresh your colour with minimal damage and upkeep. Makeup Trends 2026 That Match Your New Hair Your hair’s fresh cut and colour deserve makeup that complements and enhances your look. In 2026, makeup is playful and expressive but still polished. Here’s what to try: Glossy eyeshadows and liners : Think shiny lids and bold, graphic lines that draw attention to your eyes. Blurred lips : Soft, diffused lip colours that look natural but add a hint of colour. Dewy skin : Healthy, glowing skin with minimal powder to keep your complexion fresh. Bold eyes : Experiment with colours and shapes that match your hair’s vibrancy, like copper tones with copper hair or soft pinks with warm blondes. These makeup trends work perfectly with the 2026 haircut trends and hair colour trends, creating a cohesive, modern look.
